The Role

  • Project Analysis Conduct a thorough review of project specifications, drawings, and related documents to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project scope and requirements.
  • Cost Estimation Undertake detailed cost analyses, encompassing labour, materials, equipment, and other relevant factors, to develop precise and reliable project estimates.
  • Quantity Takeoff Execute meticulous quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications to accurately determine the required material quantities for the project.
  • Stakeholder Communication Liaise with stakeholders to secure competitive pricing for materials and services. Critically evaluate and negotiate quotes to ensure optimal cost-effectiveness.
  • Cost Database Management Manage and update an extensive cost database, incorporating both historical data and current market prices for materials and services.
  • Budget Development Collaborate closely with project managers and relevant stakeholders to formulate project budgets based on accurate and detailed estimates.
  • Risk Assessment Identify and assess potential risks associated with cost factors, providing strategic recommendations for effective risk mitigation.
  • Value Engineering Work collaboratively with project teams to identify and implement value engineering opportunities, optimising project costs without compromising on quality.
  • Bid Preparation Prepare and submit comprehensive and competitive bids to secure projects, ensuring adherence to specified deadlines.
  • Documentation Ensure all estimation activities are meticulously documented, maintaining organised records of correspondence, quotes, and cost breakdowns.
  • Additional Responsibilities Provide support to colleagues and contribute to other business needs as required.
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of yourself and those around you. You will ensure all H&S policies and practices are adhered to and escalated in the correct way.
  • Act in a way that does not subject any other employees, potential employees, workers, or clients to direct or indirect discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation.
  • Ensure that GDPR and confidentiality protocols are always complied with.
  • Conduct yourself in line with Company standards in order to maintain the Company’s integrity.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft
