Conveyancing Assistant

Our client, a well-established firm based in West Yorkshire, is seeking a Conveyancing Assistant to join their team in Brighouse.

The Role

  • Permanent role:
  • Hours of work – 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday – office-based role
  • Salary £24 000 - £26,000 depending on experience
  • Location:  Brighouse-off Street parking (5 mins away) available
  • As a member of the team, you will be working with experienced and professionally recognised Partners to continue to grow and promote the Residential Property offering
  • Answer incoming calls and provide updates to clients, referrers, and other relevant parties
  • Update case portals as required
  • Use legal software including (but not limited to): Quill, Legal Bricks, LMS, Lender Exchange, ULS, Land Registry, HMRC
  • Provide cost estimates to clients and referrers
  • Open files, carry out ID checks, and send initial request letters for funds on account
  • Assist clients with the Legal Bricks portal when necessary
  • Undertake tasks and dictation as instructed by the fee earner
  • Prepare and send standard or bespoke letters as required
  • Obtain copy titles and draft/issue contract packs
  • Apply for and carry out property searches, including map searches
  • Monitor lender portals for mortgage offers
  • Prepare files for completion and conduct final checks
  • Update lender portals with final search results and request mortgage funds
  • Produce e-chits for completion monies (sales and purchases), including payment of redemption monies, estate agent fees, referral fees, and purchase funds
  • Ensure completion packs are properly marked and sent to the appropriate Partner and accounts department in advance of completion
  • Maintain and update the completions diary
  • Request Help to Buy or Lifetime ISA funds and update the relevant systems post-completion
  • Submit SDLT forms and arrange payment of Stamp Duty
  • Arrange and pay for indemnity policy
  • Prepare files for the post-completion department
  • Check ledgers and manage financial balances
  • Close files where appropriate

About You

  • Minimum of 1 year experience within conveyancing
  • Confident, driven and ambitious
  • Familiar with a case management system
  • Strong educational background
  • Good client-facing and communication skills
  • Ability to work individually and collaboratively
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
