The Role
- Permanent Role based on site
- Salary: £40,000 per annum
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Monday–Thursday: 8am to 4:30 pm, Friday: 8am to 3:15 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break – there is also options for Overtime
- Carry out mechanical engineering inspection of precision machined components and fabricated parts to ensure quality and specification meet customer requirements
- Interpret engineering drawings, identify specified standards, and check final components meet specifications with supporting evidence
- Prioritise workload by liaising with engineering departments about delivery schedules and project deadlines
- Identify non-conforming components enabling corrective action before product delivery
- Maintain and manage calibration of measuring tools ensuring compliance with calibration tolerances
- Maintain accurate records demonstrating precise measurements
- Complete Inspection Reports and Certificates of Conformance confirming product specifications are met
- Advise and guide colleagues on quality issues ensuring compliance with ISO14001 and ISO9001 standards
- Work on product and process investigations with business and customers to identify problems and devise solutions
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and efficient inspection environment adhering to good housekeeping principles
- Assist with additional tasks as requested by the Head of QHSE and inhouse personnel
- Ensure Health and Safety policies and environmental and quality management systems compliance
- Organise team workload and act as a key link between office and shopfloor
About You
- Qualification in mechanical engineering (desirable)
- Relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Competent with precision measuring equipment such as digital height gauges, hardness testers, micrometres, etc.
- Experience with Keyence or similar metrology arms (desirable)
- Excellent IT skills including MS Office and Excel
- Thorough understanding of ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards
- Experience with CMM (Keyence XM-5000)
- Familiar with engineering drawings, weld and fabrication inspection, and material specifications
- Ability to interpret material test certificates to ensure specification compliance
- Methodical, detail-oriented, team player able to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure
