Learning & Development Trainer

The L&D Business Trainer will work as part of a team to develop and deliver training to the staff.



The Role

  • Salary up to £29,400 per annum
  •  Car Allowance of £4,700
  • 35 Hours per week Monday to Friday
  • Location: Northamptonshire and Surrounding areas (Field Based, with some occasional travel Nationwide with overnight stays)
  • Must be able to drive and have own car
  • To assist the Learning and Development Manager to deliver organisational requirements for mandatory training and other L&D needs of individual staff and managers
  • To develop and deliver creative and engaging L&D training programme(s) and workshops for staff within Company to build capability and drive change.
  • To design, deliver and evaluate a rolling programme of L&D training and refresher training in line with the organisational-wide learning and development plan
  • To ensure that staff development reflects the needs of Company, Policies and Procedures, and relevant legislation and applicable Regulatory requirements.
  • To work within a quality assurance framework and to keep records in line with the policies and procedures of Company. Assist the Learning & Development Manager to develop systems to monitor the quality of the programme/training and ensure that staff competency is assessed as part of the training process
  • To ensure that the learning management system is updated with attendance and other relevant data in a timely manner
  • To evaluate and modify the quality of existing internal and external training programmes to maximise learner experience and capability development
  • To keep abreast of support worker and other staff issues at all levels, local and national, and to proactively reflect changes in the L&D interventions in partnership with subject matter experts, managers and the Learning and Development Manager
  • To provide cover and support for other regional Trainer(s) if required and where demand is identified
  • To provide advice to Managers to Develop Safety Plans in line with MAYBO guidelines
  • Ensure that staff and managers are regularly and routinely consulted on all relevant aspects of the L&D programmes
  • Ensure that good quality information about L&D interventions is available and accessible for staff, using a range of media
  • Maintain an understanding of e-learning and other L&D approaches and techniques
  • To liaise with the Learning and Development Manager and Senior L&D Trainer/Team Leader on a regular basis either in written form, e-mail, telephone or in person
  • To actively engage and promote good working relationships within the learning and development team, other providers, including health, voluntary and independent sector organisations
  • To attend and contribute in the Learning and Development team meetings and actively demonstrate a proactive approach to drive change and continue to evolve the L&D portfolio
  • To work in partnership with the Learning and Development Manager and Service Managers/Training Co-ordinators to understand all necessary aspects and needs of staff learning and development
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies, quality assurance and general duty of care
  • There will be extensive travel within this role and a driving licence will be required
  • Overnight stays will be required for this role
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of new learning & development research, theory and methods
  • To promote a positive image of Company at all times
  • Participate in regular support and supervision from line management
  • Continuously develop professional knowledge and expertise, attending and participating in learning and development events, meetings, conferences, and events (as requested/approved by line management) to ensure up to date knowledge relevant to the role
  • Attend and participate in regular team and other meetings, both internal and external

About You

  • Driving licence and access to own car required
  • PTLLS, Cert in Education CIPD or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of using PowerPoint, preparing and delivering presentations
  • Ability to be creative in delivery techniques
  • Knowledge of adult education and learning
  • Demonstrable experience of using effective facilitation and training delivery skills to various audiences
  • Relevant experience of designing, delivering and evaluating training
  • Experience of working in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to effectively coach, mentor and develop staff
  • Proficient organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a wide audience in an engaging way
  • A self-starter with a "can do" attitude alongside a natural desire to take ownership/use initiative and is able to be adaptable and flexible
  • The ability to prioritise your workload effectively in a busy environment and meet specified deadlines
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • An ability to work closely with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Good coaching skills
  • Excellent IT skills using word, Excel & Outlook
