Semi-Senior Accountant

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Semi-Senior Accountant to join their Accounts Team.

The role involves preparing statutory accounts and other services for a client base of around 500 clients. You will work individually and as part of a team to ensure departmental service levels are met.

The Role

  • Preparation of year-end accounts and tax computations
  • Conduct year-end meetings with clients
  • Assist clients with accounts, Sage, and Xero queries
  • Preparation of management accounts as required
  • Complete/review VAT returns
  • Supervise and support accountants and trainee accountants
  • Liaise with HMRC and visit client offices as needed
  • Contribute to team meetings and actively seek new clients

About You

  • Able to work under pressure, use initiative, and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail with pride in work
  • Self-motivated and focused
  • Team player, supportive to colleagues
  • Flexible with additional hours, especially at month-end
  • Effective communicator with courteous telephone manner
  • Keen to learn and adapt to new skills
  • Technical Skills / Qualifications:
  • Essential:
  • Numerate with strong literacy skills
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Experience with Sage 50 Accounts & Xero
  • Knowledge of VAT and corporation tax
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
  • AAT qualified
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of IRIS Accounts Production
  • Exposure to bookkeeping software such as FreeAgent or QuickBooks
