The Role

Our client who we are recruiting for, are the UK market leader in waste and municipal services software. They provide innovative web and mobile software to help local councils manage recycling, waste, and street services. With 1 in 3 UK council waste departments using their systems. They take pride in supporting essential public services through technology.

The person in this role is responsible for creating, maintaining, and modernising technical documentation to support web and mobile software products.

Release Notes & Documentation

Create accurate, engaging, and well-structured release notes for all web and mobile product updates, ensuring clarity and accessibility.

Training & User Guides

Develop and maintain training materials and online user guides tailored to various audiences, including end-users and internal teams, to support product understanding.

Customer Communications

Communicate release notes and product updates to customers in a clear, concise, and consistent voice, ensuring important information is effectively conveyed.

Mailing List Management

Maintain and manage the customer mailing list to ensure timely distribution of product updates and relevant documentation.

Documentation Modernisation

Refresh and modernise documentation formats to align with digital-first, mobile-responsive best practices, improving accessibility and user experience.

Consistency & Accuracy

Ensure all documentation and written materials maintain a high standard of accuracy, consistency, and alignment with brand guidelines.

Collaboration with Development Teams

Work closely with developers, designers, and product managers to gather technical insights and ensure documentation reflects the latest product updates.

Feedback & Continuous Improvement

Gather feedback from users and internal stakeholders to refine and improve documentation quality and effectiveness.

Knowledge Management

Support the organisation of technical content, ensuring documentation is structured for easy navigation and comprehension.

Compliance & Best Practices

Ensure all documentation meets industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices for clarity and accessibility.

About You

  • GCSE's or equivalent, including English and Math's at grade C or above.
  • Understanding of UX/UI principles including Accessibility as they relate to user documentation.
  • Previous experience as a Technical Author, Technical Writer or similar role within the software industry, ideally focusing on SaaS, Web or mobile products.
  • Familiarity with content creation and publishing tools such as Zendesk Guide, Confluence or similar platforms.
  • Experience using email marketing tools like Mailchimp to manage customer communication.
