Kelly spent the day volunteering at Wakefield hospice's warehouse.

We are Wakefield regularly organise voluntary days for its members whereby local businesses can get involved, donate their time and support local charities by helping out with various different jobs that the charities need carrying out.

On Tuesday 23rd Jan 2024, our MD Kelly, spent the day in the donation warehouse which is based at Thornes in Wakefield. This is the location where all donations are ideally dropped off ready to be sorted, organised and dispatched to the many different retail outlets the Hospice operate. As well as having 8 local outlets, the Hospice also have an ebay shop that generates income for them and this is also coordinated from this site.

Kelly, working alongside many other WAW members, spent the day preparing the Summer season stock and was overwhelmed with the operation there. She said 'I can't believe how many donations are received on a daily basis, and the work that goes in to the operation, getting it all ready for sale! The work that goes on each and every day is outstanding and actually unbelievable - unless you've been in there yourself and experienced the actual process from donation to sale'

The Hospice do employ a number of staff to carry out this operation but do really need more volunteers. Businesses can get involved by volunteering individuals, or even teams of people and it's a great way for team bonding - as well as supporting the local Hospice. This was the first day of our #commitmenttocommunity whereby we have pledged to donate 2 days of our time to our community, each month.
